What is the Making a Difference Pledge?



At IPR-CPSEC we pride ourselves on being driven by our values, and not following the norms associated with private companies. Our ethos is not that dis-similar to that of a not-for-profit organisation, our aims are to make a positive difference in every interaction and contribute to the wider community.

The Making a Difference Pledge was borne from discussions between the company Directors Ian and Tim on how they could formalise their aims to making a difference and demonstrate their commitment to upholding their values outside of the immediate arena of providing security services.

Neither Ian or Tim are strangers to being actively involved in charitable and community impact projects, collectively raising over £20,000 for good causes in their personal lives, as well as spending many years developing social enterprises and charitable projects as part of their professional roles.

The Making a Difference Pledge combines Ian and Tim’s commitments to being recognised as positive contributors to the security industry with their aim to make a difference to the lives of individuals and groups through financial support, sponsorship, lobbying, and raising awareness.

Some of the ways we have put the Making a Difference Pledge into action so far, include, sponsoring young sports people, joining campaigns to tackle issues such as knife crime, raising money for global humanitarian issues, supporting veteran charities, raising the profile of up-and-coming music artists, and participating in consultation with industry bodies to lobby change.

How will the Making a Difference Pledge work?

In addition to our day-to-day interactions and delivery of our services whilst remaining true to our values and aims, we shall be keeping an eye out for inspiring individuals that need a helping hand. This doesn’t mean we have a bottomless pit of funds available to anyone that comes asking for help, but it means if we can help those that inspire, then we will.

A portion of the profits from the business will be used to support the individuals or groups that are chosen.

Our focus will be on a maximum of two individuals or groups that require financial support each financial year; however, our support and the relationships we create we would hope to be lifelong. If we feel it necessary, we may call for nominations for worthy individuals or groups.

During the course of the year, we shall actively participate in at least one charity fundraising scheme; this could be a nationally recognised charity, or a small local charity, and once again we would be looking for inspirational services that would benefit from our support.

We would aim to participate in voluntary work, and we would be looking at community projects that we could engage with to make a difference.

We will continue to be affiliated with security industry organisations to provide us with networking opportunities, and the ability to participate in consultation and lobbying processes as we strive to work together to improve the industry.

Above and beyond all of the above, as Directors we are committed to living our lives, and delivering services in line with our values and aims, and this will be carried into our selection process for operatives that represent us; we will seek values driven operatives that we believe will reflect our aims and values, and those that feel inspired to join us on the journey of delivery the Making a Difference Pledge.
