Business closure (April 2024)
After over two-years of hard work trying to build up a values-driven business, I have made the decision to revert back to providing services as a sole-trader. I am happy to share the details of my decision making with interested individuals. It was by far an easy decision to make, but I believe it to be the right decision for long-term health and prospects.
I aim to continue to deliver values-driven services to all those that I represent, and look forward to remaining active in the security industry in the UK and globally. By taking myself away from directorship responsibilities I can focus on getting out there and doing the job.
As I write this I feel a sense of sadness, failure, and loss, but in time I hope these feelings will subside and I can continue to be recognised as an asset in an industry that I have so much passion for. I will however hold my head up high in the knowledge that I didn't succumb to the cut-throat culture of the industry, and remained aligned the values of the business throughout.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of those that have put their faith and trust in IPR as a Limited Company, and the values and aims we aspired to be recognised for. There were of course those out there that wanted to see IPR fail from the onset, and they may gain some peace of mind from reading this article.
I would like to end my confirming that I am still operational, still insured, and licensed, so please do reach out if I can be of any assistance on tasks, or if you need to discuss your security needs.
Thank you, and all the best, Ian
Southern Enterprise Awards 2023 - Winner
(September 2023)
Back in June 2023, we received notification that we had been nominated for an award in this years SME News, Southern Enterprise Awards. We graciously accepted the nomination and went on about our business not giving any thought to actually winning. However, fast forward two-months and we receive notification that IPR Close Protection and Security Services Limited have won the award for Most Trusted Security Services Provider - Peterborough.
It is an honour for us to win this award and even more so with it being so aligned to our values.
We would like to make it known that although the award highlights our connection to Peterborough, our services are provided nationally and globally as required.
IPR Directors Making a Difference (November 2022)
Both Ian and Tim have been raising funds for various charities throughout November as part of our commitment to the IPR Making a Difference Pledge.
Tim has been in rigorous training ahead of his second bare knuckle fight on 19 November 2022, this time he is raising funds for Steel Warriors, a London based charity that turns knives into gym equipment.
Links to details of Steel Warriors, their work, and how to support them can be found below in addition to a link to Tim's Just Giving page.

Both Ian and Tim have chosen to use fitness as a way to make a difference with these campaigns, taking the day-to-day to another level.
An update on Marisa and the Moths (November 2022)
Back in February, we shared news with you about our developing relationship with the band, Marisa and the Moths, and we feel it is now a good time to share with you an update.
Managing Director, Ian had the pleasure of joining the band as they recorded a ‘Live from Abbey Road’ set on 6 November 2022, and you too can soon get to listen to this incredible live recording from one of the world's most iconic recording studios.
The band, and Ian, along with some carefully selected VIPs (self declared, Moth Royalty), got to spend the day in the studios where some of the world's most influential artists have recorded their music.
MATM are only just scratching the surface when it comes to their potential; the global stage is being geared up to welcome them, and you can join them on the journey.
There are so many other ways you can keep up to date with what is happening with the band, tour dates, buy merchandise and listen to their incredible music, so why not start by dipping your toes by listening on Spotify or Apple Music, before strapping yourself in for one hell of a ride.
Their debut album is incredible and will have you hooked from the first listen, and album number two is due for release in early 2023, the first single ‘If You Knew’ from their second album is simply a musical masterpiece, with the second single from the album being showcased at a special gig at the Half Moon in Putney, London on 17 November 2022.
We’ve all heard the stories of when someone had seen the likes of the Rolling Stones in their local pub before they were famous, well the gig in Putney on the 17th could be your last chance to see Marisa and the Moths up close and personal before they hit the global stadium tour circuit.
The second single ‘Pedestal’ is part of the bands campaign to tackle online trolling and we will be supporting this as part of our Making a Difference Pledge, so please do continue to follow our social media accounts for further updates.
Head over to Spotify now to listen to Marisa and the Moths, and then feel free to follow their Facebook Band and Fan pages for news and information. Links below.

Update on Director of Operations, Bare Knuckle Charity fight (June 2022)
On the 21st May 2022 Our Director of Operations, Tim took part in his first bare knuckle event in the north of England on behalf of two charities.
As part of his commitment to the IPR Making a Difference Pledge, Tim raised a total of £1006 for the charities.
Tim would say he lost the fight, but as his colleagues and friends here at IPR Close Protection and Security Services Limited, we see him as a winner by taking part, and he will always be a winner on our team.
Sticking true to his style, showing determination and a never surrender approach, Tim will be getting back in the ring in November 2022; he will take the fight in May as a learning exercise, and come back bigger and stronger, and more prepared. Again there will be another opportunity to support worthy causes for a much needed financial boost prior to Christmas, so please do watch this space.
Tim would like to share this personal message of thanks...
'I would love to thank everyone who donated and supported the event and the charities, and if we take anything from this we even when knocked down get back up and keep going in the ring and in general life.'

Director of Operations, Bare Knuckle Fight 2022 for Ukraine Aid and Children's Cancer charities (May 2022)
As we work towards delivering our Making a Difference Pledge, our Director of Operations Tim is going to be taking part in a bare knuckle fight under Bad to the Bone Promotions at Fenton Manor, Stoke-on-Trent on the 21st May 2022.
Tim chose this event because of its traditional elements within the UK, him having family connections in the boxing world, and because of his background in and love for a variety of combat sports.
As bare knuckle fighting becoming more mainstream and accepted as a disciplined sport, Tim wants to help change negative perceptions of bare knuckle within the wider community, as he shows his commitment to training outside of the ring, and his focus, discipline, and sportsmanship inside the ring.
Since leaving the military in 2012, Tim has completed many extreme tasks, including ultra-marathons in the UK and overseas, and Muay Thai fighting in Thailand, all completed to raise funds for charities.
Tim will be raising money for two chosen charities on this occasion, British-Ukranian Aid, and The Children's Cancer Unit Charity. Below are links to the charities websites, and Just Giving pages for the event.

Building relationships with talented artists
(February 2022)
It was an absolute honour to have spent time with the incredibly talented Marisa Rodriguez in the studio working on the second Marisa And The Moths album at the Esche Haus Recording Studio Blackburn.
The day was seriously the gift that kept on giving as also got to meet the legend that is Peter Dowsett, as well as studio owners and Novustory lead singer Imogen Storey, and drummer James (Ducky) Duckworth.
For those that aren't familiar with the work of Imogen and James, their approach to supporting fellow music artists is nothing short if inspirational, their ethos is so reflective of that of ours as a business, aiming to make a difference and help others grow.
Not only do we pledge our personal support to Marisa and the Moths, and Imogen and the band, Novustory, but also as a business, IPR Close Protection and Security Services Limited also pledge our support in helping these bands reach their full potential, and supporting them with their security needs along the way.
Please do visit the links to their websites to access music, merchandise, and more.
Thank you again Marisa, Peter, Imogen, and James for making us feel so welcome; we can't wait to see you guys again later this year on tour.
Happy New Year 2022, A year of opportunity and growth
Five years ago I made the decision to market myself as a brand, clearly defining my values, and what can be expected from the services I provide; part of this branding was delivered by way of my website, although it was set up as a business website, it was primarily intended to be a way for people to identify with me as an individual in the industry, not to actively recruit operatives, or seek contracts.
Along my journey I have worked with some great operators (many of you are probably reading this now), some of whom share the values that I have built my brand around, these being, Pride, Passion, Integrity, Respect, and Courage.
One such Close Protection Operative was Tim Stronge; Tim and I met in 2018 on a seemingly mundane asset protection task, but immediately we connected and our shared passion for making a difference in an industry that faces constant scrutiny led to us becoming mutually valued peers amongst each others network. From that task, we worked together on various tasks including Diplomatic Protection tasks for foreign heads of government.
After discussions took place during 2021, Tim and I agreed to take the IPR Close Protection and Security Services brand, and develop it into a values driven security business; with an aim to be a provider of trusted assets (of value) and not merely human resources (disposable commodities), operatives that share our values and aims, and demonstrate a commitment to strive for excellence by working and learning from their peers.
It is my great pleasure to introduce Tim Stronge as the Director of Operations for IPR Close Protection and Security Services Limited, my trusted friend and business partner.
We look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with likeminded professionals across the industry, and harness those relationships we currently have.
Happy New Year,
Ian P Rutterford

British Bodyguard Association Membership (April 2021)
It is my privilege to be a member of the British Bodyguard Association; networking with many likeminded professionals demonstrating commitment to making the industry great, setting the standards, sharing best practice, advice, guidance, and opportunities.
Networking is an integral part of business sustainability; however time consuming it may be, it can be so rewarding.
